Three men are in hospital after being stabbed in Montreal’s downtown district just after dawn on Thursday.
The men are understood to be university students aged 18, 20 and 25. They are in stable condition.
A fourth man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Two suspected knife-wielding assailants are said to have targeted a group of men at around 0800 GMT.
Sources have told the Canadian Press that one of the victims managed to grab a knife and stab the attacker before he fled.
The men were struck after a car stopped at a traffic light.

A spokesperson for Montreal police told the Canadian Press that they received several reports of a “battling” going on near Notre Dame and Pape.
Police have described the crime scene as “evolving”, but say the motive for the stabbing is “not known”.
